Musical Pathways With Hutty & His New Single Keep Away From Me

Musical Pathways With Hutty: Discussing His New Single Keep Away From Me & A Self-Guided Reflection Through His Own Words

My creative process entails…I start…and end up…

My creative process entails some sort of inspiration. I start with trying to drive an emotion into the vibe and expression of a song and end up with something. I found that as I’ve made music, the way I feel entirely transposes to the feeling of the track (happy, sad, driven).

My inspiration for my song (...) Started when…grew into…So I wrote/produced…

My inspiration for my song Keep Away From Me started when the idea of moving to Los Angeles grew into reality. I wrote this song while visiting the producer Rob Auerbach in LA. The production, songwriting and recording, was all done in one studio session with each other. It was at the very beginning of this studio session, I officially decided I would make the move to LA to pursue my music career. I wanted this song to directly discuss that feeling.

What I’m currently jamming to the most is…because…

What I’m currently jamming to the most is Indie and House music because it’s grown on me. I still listen to rap, but it used to be the only thing I listen to. Everyone from my hometown in Minnesota listened to rap, but when I moved to Boulder, I was introduced to all these other genres.  I honestly listen to myself probably the most however, but in a way of trying to improve a song’s production or looping a track for writing verses.

When I think back to my most memorable performances, ... comes to mind, because…

When I think back to my most memorable performances, Rinse Festival comes to mind, because it was the first organized show myself and Rinse Records have been a part of and the turnout was amazing. A big goal of mine is to continue setting up shows under Rinse Records, which is an independent record label I started.

One thing I’d strive to change in the music industry is… because… And I would do it like this…

One thing I’d strive to change in the music industry is the decline of rap because we completely lost the heart and soul of this genre. And I would do it like this by exploring different avenues of rap by infusing it’s genre with other, growing genres. Which in my case is House - Hop.

One piece of advice you would give to aspiring musicians is… so that…

One piece of advice you would give to aspiring musicians is to not expect too much too quickly, so that you continue to stay driven and stay focused on the craft, versus the clout that comes with fame.

What makes me feel grateful to be the artist who I am is… What this means for me, is…

What makes me grateful to be the artist who I am is the people that have reached out to me, telling me my music has helped them. What this means for me is that my desire for helping the youth with depression and addiction becomes more impactful every day.

When I face challenges as an artist I… And then I… so that…hoping that…

When I face challenges as an artist I usually seek some sort of inspiration, and a lot of this is through personal reflection. It’s important to really truly look over what your challenges are that you face, and do the best you can to help yourself. If I’m insecure about something and it’s hindering my ability to confidentially release music, I know I’m investing too much time into what people think of me. And then I find that confidence in myself, so that I can produce dope music, and even use that path of security as the theme of the next song, hoping that people can relate, and find a way of happiness for themselves.

What I hope to achieve with this new single…I want…

What I hope to achieve with this new single, is a pathway to my career in Los Angeles. I want the house-hop genre to develop into something amazing, and with my production majorly influencing the industry. This is the third song under that genre I have released, and I am planning on continuing away with this type of music. “Keep Away From Me” discusses leaving bad habits and unsupportive people in my life as I make this move. I truly mean what I am saying, and I will continue to stay driven till the world sees my name.

What I hope to achieve as an artist is…because…I want…My goal is…Music is…I believe…

What I hope to achieve as an artist is recognition in this industry, because I’ve been working all day every day to get here. I know that actions speak louder than words, so my expression in music will hopefully take me there. I want to create fun and emotional music that translates to kids experiencing problems, or just looking for a good time. After years of playing with production, I’ve found my own genre that sticks out from the rest, house-hop. On a technical side, my goal is to have producers search my “type beats” on YouTube, made by other producers. My goal is also to help those with mental illness, and drug/alcohol addiction, find a place of safety and happiness, so we have less young kids in this world die from suicide, gun violence, or overdoses. Music is so impactful on society, and way too much of what we hear today is extremely terrible for the youth. Since it’s music, it’s hard for us to tell each person not to listen to a certain song, or not follow the beliefs of a certain artist. It’s also a difficult psychological concept to understand how music affects the brain, so people don’t even know how much they’re being affected. I believe I can fit into what people are interested in, and actually have an impact that could help this problem going on, right before our eyes.
